The food we give away during food share are donations from Alberts Organics and Co-op Partners. Sometimes food is purchased for the kitchen bus for special events. 2005′s retail estimate of food shared by Sisters’ Camelot was $1,000,000.00. Operating expenses were $130,000.

It takes money to run a non-profit. Sisters’ Camelot’s operating expenses including modest salaries, a small office, gasoline, mechanics, our insurance for both buses, the Kitchen Bus project. Some money goes to special projects like our summer “weekend” kitchens and community garden landscaping.

Our “Urban Jobs Program”, in essence the fund-raising canvass, is out 5-6 days a week. We don’t do direct mailings, phone canvasses, or use high cost canvass consulting firms or middle-man charities. Like our method of collective decision making, we use a grass roots method of fund raising. We go door-to-door, talk to people about the programs we do, and ask for community support.
