Urban Gardening

COMMUNITY GARDENING:
Sister’s Camelot provides compost for local community gardens, creating rich organic soil and renewing city land.  Our community garden plot on 5th Ave supplies our Food Share and Mobile Kitchen programs with fresh herbs in the warm months. Our goal is to bring people closer to mother earth and to help them learn that by gardening and working with the soil, they too can provide healthy food to sustain their community.

REGIONAL ORGANIC FARMS:
During the growing season, volunteers visit local organic farms and Community Supported Agriculture farms. We have participated in tours, workshops and gleaning (harvesting from the fields after it is no longer profitable for the farmer to do so). CSA farmers allow us to glean because our volunteers share the harvest for free in the city where it is needed.

Back in 2003, Wwe held a revisioning conference – check it out.
